WE ARE A FOUNDATION THAT PROMOTES BODY DIVERSITY

to support mental health and prevent eating disorders , body dissatisfaction, and appearance-based discrimination.

Our Story

Bellamente was founded by Cande Yatche in 2018, inspired by her experiences during her final year of secondary school, where the race to achieve the “perfect body” was a widespread obsession. Graduation events and the end-of-year trip meant months of strict diets, tanning beds and excessive exercise. It came at a cost: several classmates began treatment for eating disorders. Cande started paying close attention to how people spoke negatively about their bodies, noticed the discrimination at nightclub doors, and became aware of the flood of beauty-related ads on social media. It wasn’t just a personal issue—it was a social one.

That’s how Bellamente began: an Instagram account to question beauty standards. Within hours, messages started pouring in from people silently struggling with body dissatisfaction and trapped in the relentless pursuit of thinness. With every post, people shared their stories, and together we started thinking critically about the effects of beauty ideals. The community grew rapidly, and Bellamente became a real and virtual space for open conversation. Cande was no longer alone in her thoughts—we had become a network of people challenging beauty stereotypes.

From an Instagram page, a foundation was born.

We are convinced that for social transformation we need commitment and action.
